Candidate in Democratic primary in Kalispell packs heat

The fellow with the name tag on his shirt and big iron on his hip is Dane Clark, candidate for the Democratic nomination for HD-8 in Kalispell. One might suppose he was among friends — after all, this was the Tea Party’s 15 April 2010 tax protest in downtown Kalispell — but Clark said that rumors of agent provocateurs bound on disrupting the festivities made packin’ heat prudent.

In his cardboard box, Clark, an affable fellow, was packing DVDs of a speech by Alaskan militia leader Schaeffer Cox and a forum for candidates for Flathead County Sheriff, and a one-third page card for Mark French, a candidate for the Republican nomination for the Congressional seat now held by Denny Rehberg.

Until recently, Clark was a precinct committeeman for the Flathead Republican central committee. He’s still listed as one, but a party official confirmed that Clark did resign, and that the party has been delinquent in updating the website.

Clark’s opponent in the 8 June 2010 Democratic primary for HD-8 is Kalispell architect and planning board chief Bryan Schutt.
