President Barack Hussein Obama had three choices in the debt ceiling fight:
He chose capitulation. He should have asserted constitutional authority to act while Congress dithered — and welcomed impeachment as an opportunity to make the case for progressive policy while the entire nation watched in rapt attention.
Instead, he chickened out. He did a deal, but he did not forge a compromise. He bent over backwards until his head touched his heels, and got a jackboot in his privates for his trouble.
Don’t send him congratulations. Send him calcium. Let your blessings in Congress know why.
Let all three know that the issue isn’t debt: it’s unemployment. And the cure for that malady is more spending, not less.
