Letter from GOP PSC candidate John Campbell

John Campbell, Kalispell, is running for the Republican nomination for the Montana Public Service Commission’s District 5 seat against fellow Republicans Derek Skees and Brad Johnson. Rep. Galen Hollenbaugh is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Campbell takes issue with Flathead Memo’s 8 March 2014 observation that his candidacy might be a soapbox candidacy. In 1994, Campbell ran for the PSC in what was then district 3, losing to Bob Anderson 33,098 to 28,331. Anderson was killed in a rollover accident in Tanzinia, Africa, last October.

Mr. Conner: Yes; I am running for the PSC opening. But “No” it is not a “soapbox” that has anything to do with trucking. But yes I have had hearings with the PSC concerning companies in violation of intrastate authority.

I ran in 1994 against incumbent Bob Anderson. That was when the debates about deregulation began. People were convinced then; that competition would increase and rates would drop. I was against it then, and as you can see; it has not worked. Now the hydroelectric plants are owned by out of state companies and controlled by federal regulations. Montana is going to be faced with higher rate increases; if changes are not made soon.

Now Montana is also faced with “eminent domain” because of the failure of the 2013 legislatures to repeal it. That can be attributed to Derek Skees and Galen Hollenbaugh. It is obvious they are working “for the utilities” and not the people of Montana.” We buy property to call it “personal property.” The CowGirl blog showing Skees beside the sign reading “socialism;” shows his true colors.

All three (Johnson, Skees, Hollenbaugh) think fracking is the best thing since mayonnaise. They do not care about possible water contamination or the environment. If you wish to inform the people about “fracking exemptions and clean water?” Simply look up “halliburton loophole.” That will explain it all.

Sincerely: John M. Campbell
Candidate: Public Service Commission
