Sen. Jon Tester won just 16 of Montana’s 56 counties in 2012 — and he lost Flathead County, a black hole for Democrats, by more votes than in any other county. Steve Daines will outpoll Amanda Curtis in the Flathead by 7,000 to 9,000 votes, possibly more if the Democrats’ get-out-the-vote operation falters. That’s why Curtis is visiting Kalispell this evening: to inspirit local Democrats to hold down Daines’ margin of victory in Montana’s largest deep red county.
